How to play Mahjong Connect

Open Mahjong Connect, check the instructions and begin a round. Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Look at what changes after your first action.

6×8 grid and two-turn path finding.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Step by step

  1. Select equal tiles.
  2. The route must cross only empty cells.
  3. An outside-border path is allowed.
  4. Open connections by removing pairs.

Controls

Tap pairs; use Hint and Undo. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

A useful example

A same-row pair needs an empty route between its endpoints. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

Three corners are invalid. Check the rule before repeating the action. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
