How to play Carrom

Read the aim of Carrom, then make your first move. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Look at what changes after your first action.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Start with a deliberate move.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
